I haven’t updated my blog in so long, there’s a prompt at the top of my WordPress dashboard advising me to update the script/software to WordPress 4.0. That’s how long I haven’t updated my blog. It’s a good thing I didn’t invest in a ThemeForest theme like I had originally wanted to way back earlier this year because wouldn’t that have been a waste of $50.

Anyhow, I’m blogging today to plug a new blog I started – I know, I know, a new blog?! When I haven’t updated this one in months?! This one is different. (“That’s what they all say.”) This one is a news blog that I started at the end of September because I realized that there is a niche in the English-speaking K-Pop world that needs to be filled, and I am the person to do it.

New website projects

Yesterday, I tweeted about getting a personal domain name, and today, I have done it. This blog will soon be directed as wendykwan.ca! This is a big step for me as I’ve used singtothesky.org for years and years – and before that, it was au-contraire.org – but hopefully this will be the beginning of where I start branding myself online. Although if I were to be honest, I feel online personal branding can be such an unauthentic way because you have to make sure you publish a professional marketable version of yourself. Hopefully, even with the new domain name, my blog will still be able to represent 100% of me.

I also thought about starting a new (and different) blog yesterday. Now that I have the whole summer ahead of me – the rest of my life too! – I now have the time to start the projects I’ve always wanted to start.

Our house is burning, and there is no Planet B. 🌎 The climate crisis is a nonpartisan issue, no matter what the Conservatives will have you believe. If you are 18 or older, you can vote in the Canadian federal election on Monday, October 21st. Please check your riding and vote wisely. 🗳️
  • It always surprises people when I tell them that even though I was born in Hong Kong, I've never actually been back to the city. But I've always had an affinity to the city because of all the Asian entertainment I consume. And as someone who tries to stay up-to-date on global affairs, the Hong Kong protests was something that I followed closely over the summer.⁣⁣

I wasn't able to attend Toronto's supporting protest in its entirety, so this photo is mostly for memory's sake. It's good to see people in Canada supporting people in Hong Kong, but I do wish the crowd was larger. I wish more young Canadians would take action in what they believe in. Your world won't change if just complain about it to your friends. Apathy is the most dangerous weapon to democracy.⁣⁣

I'll end this photo caption with this quote from Albert Einstein:⁣

  • The Queen's Library at the Frederiksborg Castle in Denmark. The grandeur of this room left me utterly speechless. Photo doesn't do it justice. 👑 #Hillerød
