I haven’t updated my blog in so long, there’s a prompt at the top of my WordPress dashboard advising me to update the script/software to WordPress 4.0. That’s how long I haven’t updated my blog. It’s a good thing I didn’t invest in a ThemeForest theme like I had originally wanted to way back earlier this year because wouldn’t that have been a waste of $50.

Anyhow, I’m blogging today to plug a new blog I started – I know, I know, a new blog?! When I haven’t updated this one in months?! This one is different. (“That’s what they all say.”) This one is a news blog that I started at the end of September because I realized that there is a niche in the English-speaking K-Pop world that needs to be filled, and I am the person to do it.

New website projects

Yesterday, I tweeted about getting a personal domain name, and today, I have done it. This blog will soon be directed as wendykwan.ca! This is a big step for me as I’ve used singtothesky.org for years and years – and before that, it was au-contraire.org – but hopefully this will be the beginning of where I start branding myself online. Although if I were to be honest, I feel online personal branding can be such an unauthentic way because you have to make sure you publish a professional marketable version of yourself. Hopefully, even with the new domain name, my blog will still be able to represent 100% of me.

I also thought about starting a new (and different) blog yesterday. Now that I have the whole summer ahead of me – the rest of my life too! – I now have the time to start the projects I’ve always wanted to start.

  • I ate 21 oysters today. They were only £1 each! Can't believe it. Totally ate four month's worth of oysters! I just looove seafood. 😍🐚 Thank you, England, for hosting such amazing and such generous seafood festivals! ❤️
  • The "Super Mario" macaroni and cheese: Sauteed mushrooms, truffle oil, and garlic. So delicious omg! 😍 Been craving mac 'n' cheese for so long... 🤤
  • Went to a Malaysian restaurant yesterday before the World Cup game because I was craving for some warm Asian (East Asian or Southeast Asian) food in my tummy. Decided on @laksamania because I missed out on @vincentmong's and @cherylgoh15's non-existent invite to this very restaurant and to a screening of THE INCREDIBLES 2. Hashtag SMH. 😒

The photo you're looking at is a photo of the restaurant's Penang assam laksa. 🍜
  • Mango shaved ice topped with passion fruit and lychee. 🍨 Perfect summer dessert!
  • A wall of self-reflection.
  • Throwback to that hot summer day on the Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro where @cmyes and I watched Germany beat France in the World Cup quarterfinals. 🇩🇪🇫🇷 I will never forget that day. It was so hot, the sand was so hot, we sat on someone's random hotel bed sheets or something because the sand was too hot to sit on. I also remember getting my face painted (both sides) with a Germany flag while walking to the beach to watch the game, and then getting the other cheek painted with a France flag when we arrived. Practically ambushed by French fans who were determined to paint the flag on the other cheek even though we weren't supporting France. 😂 Loved how loud the French and German fans were on the beach. We tried going by the Maracanã stadium earlier in the day but obviously weren't allowed even near it because we didn't have tickets. Great memories in Brazil. ❤️ #Throwback #WorldCup2014 (#TeamVarane tomorrow!!)
