The British drinking culture

That didn’t take long, did it? I’ve only been here in the UK for five months and already I’m cringing at another drinking event with colleagues or with friends. British drinking culture is truly something else.

I’m saying this because it’s December, and people all around are more festive than ever. There are more drinking events, more parties, more celebrations, etc. I’m slowly getting exhausted by all the social activities.

Disappointing trip to hot air balloon festival

Two blog posts in less than a week! This must be some sort of record!

A few London gal pals and I did a day trip to Bristol yesterday, to check out the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. It’s supposed to be the biggest hot air balloon festivals in Europe! We were all looking forward to checking out the hot air balloons because we’ve never really seen one up close, but boy,ย were we disappointed.

  • It really needs to snow in London. The city would look even prettier with some snow. ๐Ÿ˜ #Canadian
  • I got yelled at by the shopkeeper shortly after taking this photo. She didn't like the fact that I was touching all her inventory without buying anything. ๐Ÿ˜… #Persimmon
  • Trying to do better with sharing my travel photos. (New Year's resolution maybe?!) This is a photo of the Latvian lunch I'm having on my second day here in Riga. Very affordable meal! ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ Extra context for this photo: This is the meal I ate after waking up at noon today. I spent a total of 13 hours sleeping at my hotel within my first 24 hours in Latvia. ๐Ÿ˜‚ #ILoveHotels
  • 6 AM flights mean napping immediately after work, staying up until 2 AM, taking the bus from city to airport at 3 AM, landing at 10:30 AM, and then accidentally napping at your hotel from 5 PM to 11 PM. ๐Ÿ˜ด Yikes, I've missed dinner.

This is a photo of the coast of Latvia, the Bulduri region, facing the Gulf of Latvia. Even flying in at 10 AM in the morning, I could still see large cargo ships sailing through towards Finland.
  • First mulled wine of the season, and my first ever taste of reindeer meat! (That's a reindeer meat crepe I'm holding.) It tastes delicious! I want more... ๐ŸฆŒ P.S. That's glรถgi I'm holding in my hand! Finnish hot mulled wine. ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ
  • London's museum of art and design. Such a big museum, you definitely need at least three hours to properly see everything!
